Stone Stories: The use, origin, myth, and cultural attributes of...Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz’s Quest: “I’m bringing you with me for this first meeting. There is no way I can do this without you.” He turned the lights out and lay down for the night. My owner is a boy who has now become a man. This meeting, he says, is one he has been looking forward to his whole life. He has held me since he was young, cried with me in his fist when others have broken his heart, fallen asleep with me when he felt he needed to learn more trust. He has even whispered to me about finding new love, or about his grief. I listen to him patiently, sitting by his head as he sleeps.

What else can I do? I’ve been with him when he found his first love and his true love. I’ve seen his heart be blessed with joy as he viewed his first son and his second daughter. Tomorrow holds a challenge for me. I have to help him forgive and learn that love is unconditional. That love can blur the edges of wounds and bring reconciliation and forgiveness. The morning comes and we go to a coffee shop.
There, a man walks in and my owner grips me tight in his pocket as he asks me for courage. I heard him under his breath, “That’s him? That’s my Dad?” I feel him stand as I fall to the bottom of the fabric and hear him cry again. This time the tears aren’t angry or frustrated; but, out of relief and joy. I hear a sound I am familiar with, the sound that he makes when his family are near. They call it a hug.
